Seized liquor destroyed in Thoubal

Thoubal, January 01 2017:
Taking up security measures to the ensuing assembly elections, Thoubal police and Excise officials today destroyed Around Rs 1.5 lakhs worth of Indian Made Foreign Liquor and locally brewed liquor and beverages seized during its anti-liquor drive this evening at the Thoubal Excise department complex.
During the drive carried out by Thoubal police along with excise officials from December 2016 till today from Thoubal areas.
Thoubal police led by SP M Pradip, Additional SP (LO) W Singajit, SDPO Th Sankerdeba, OC RK Tejbir and Excise OC L Dina conducted a raid at the residence of Soibam Ibotomba, s/o S Ibomcha at around 3 pm on Monday.
S Ibotomba is the owner of Bokajan Hotel at Thoubal Bazar.
The joint team seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor 407 whiskey bottles, 96 rum bottles, 60 beer bottles and 120 beer cans.
Speaking to media Raghu Leishangthem, Dy.SP Excise, Thoubal said that his mission was to free Thoubal district of alcohol and drugs.
He said, with the enforcement of election code of conduct there will be zero tolerance in regards to the sale of alcohol and the drive will be intensified.
