RSS remembers Bob Khathing, Cong celebrates 1-Day

On the occasion of 75th Independence Day of India, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders paid respect to the memorial stone of Padma Shree major Ralengnao (Bob) Khathing on Sunday.
A team led by RSS North East media co-ordinator Dr Sunil Mohanty, Manipur government officer on special duty S Premananda, Imphal Vibhag pracharak Kh Binanda paid floral tributes to the major on the occasion.
Ralengnao Khathing, popularly known as Major Bob Khathing, was born on February 28,1912 in Ukhrul district and he was the first amongst tribes of Manipur to be a college graduate and held the post of an ambassador.
He founded Tangkhul Students' Union and was part of sovereign Manipur government before it merged with India.
Meanwhile, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) celebrated Independence Day at Congress Bhawan with MPCC president N Loken Singh hoisting the Tri-colour on Sunday.
The programme was also at -tended by CLP leader O Ibobi, CWC member Gaikhangam, former MPCC president TN Haokip, MLAs, party office bearers, former MLAs and leaders of frontal organisations, cells and departments.
Similarly, Uripok BJP Mandal celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India at its office on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Block Congress Committee, Kakching (BCCK) celebrated 75th India's Independence Day at its office on Sunday.
Unfurling of the National flag and singing of national anthem marked the celebra tion attended by Kakching District Congress Committee president E Manglem, BCCK president Ksh Ibohal, social worker Y Nilachandra Singh, Kakching Municipality Ex chairpersons Y Rajendra, M Inakhunbi and member N Kobit among others.
