Imphal, April 16 2020:
With regards to the lockdown of a pandemic of COVID-19, Realize Rehabilitation Centre, Prem Worship Servicing Centre and Salvation Centre served mid-day meal to about 35 drug users today at North AOC in the heart of Imphal city, especially to those who are unable to go for treatment as many of them are disowned by family members.
Ole Wangkheimayum, the Project Director of Realize Rehabilitation Centre said that from tomorrow instead of the mid-day meal, the three bodies have planned to switch to breakfast as many drugs users often loiter around violating rules of lockdown and even without the fear of witnessing the law enforcement agencies.
The Project Director said that addiction is a disease that needs proper treatment and therefore appealed to the State Government to provide treatment or at least provide detoxification under a protected environment free of cost to these drugs users during this critical juncture.
Not to be forgotten of the yeoman services provided by joint drug users organisation led by CoNe and others, Ole Wangkheimayum highly appreciated them for their timely intervention.
He further said, "Let's unite & fight this menace of drug dependency and give no chance for the virus to attack the drugs users who are vulnerable to it" .
