Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) has distributed solar lighting sets to the villagers of Ziumi village in interior Senapati district which is yet to be electrified.
Villagers of Ziumi village which is located 76 kilometer away from Maram Bazar is virgin as per as power supply is concern and MANIREDA by distributing the solar lighting sets has given a ray of hope to the villagers.
Even though not all the household were given the artificial lighting sets, home lighting sets were distributed to 72 households and 13 solar street lamps for lighting the village.
MANIREDA distributed the solar lighting sets under the remote village electrification programme sponsored by the Union Ministry of Renewable Energy.
The MANIREDA team which Tadubi Kendra MLA K Raina, Tamei MLA Awangbou Newmai included also distributed 106 lighting sets, 20 street lighting sets at Banei village, equal number of sets to Khangjang and Chakha villages.
The items were distributed in a simple function held at the villages yesterday.
