Financial literacy programme conducted

In a bid to sensitize the masses and Self Help Groups (SHGs) inparticular about the importance of financial literacy, an awareness programme was held today at the Marriage Hall in Oinam Ward No 4, Bishnupur district.
The financial literacy awareness programme was jointly organised by Manipur State Co-Operative Bank (MSCB) and Unique Manipur Women Co-Operative Society, Oinam.
The programme was graced by Social Activist Th Swarankumar Singh; MSCB President Pangambam Ranjit Singh; Vice-president Yumnam Shubhachandra Singh; Chairman Manipur Industries Development Council P Loken Singh; Project Manager E-Nupikeithel Soubam Luxmibai Devi and State Awardee Oinam Shyama Devi as the presidium members among others.
Speaking in connection with the programme, Pangambam Ranjit Singh said that the programme is held with an aim to improve the socio-economic status of the rural population prioritising on Self Help Groups (SHGs).
He appealed to the SHGs to avail the financial benefits provided by banks and financial institutes by putting it into effective use for thee development of the society.
He called for concerted efforts to build a stable economy for the State and the country as whole.
During the programme, the resource persons deliberated on how to form Self Help Groups and ways to sustain it and make it self-reliant by availing the benefits provided by banks and Government.
