Two expelled as HSLC examination begins

The annual class X examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) for the current year commenced from Friday with altogether 37,715 students appearing the examination while two candidates were expelled for impersonation from Brilliant Public School, Samurou centre on the first day.
Mention may be made that the state government had officially implemented The Manipur Prevention of Malpractices in High School Leaving certificate and Higher Secondary Examinations Bill, 2024.Under the Act, impersonation carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine up to Rs 1 lakh but not less than Rs 20,000 or with both, or under Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 in case of a juvenile.
The examination which started from 9 am Friday was conducted in 154 centres across the state with 63 in the hills and 91 in the valley.
Of the total candidates, 19,087 are male and 18,628 female candidates.
Among the 37,715 students, 27,281 are from private institutions, 9119 from government schools and 1315 from aided schools.
Twenty-five inspection teams are being engaged to monitor the conduct of exam in the valley district.
Altogether 1,727 candidates from different schools are appearing the HSLC examination 2024 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) at seven different examination centres in Senapati district.
A total of 237 candidates are appearing the exam at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram; 190 at Mao Maram Higher Secondary School, Tadubi; 204 at Sardar Patel High School, Mao; 214 at Bethany Higher Secondary School, Senapati; 243 at Lao Radiant Higher Secondary School, Karong; 249 at Daikho Va School, Senapati; and 400 candidates at Purul Higher Secondary School.
With a view to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examination, BSEM formed four teams to inspect the examination centres on roster basis while Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) formed its own teams to monitor conduct of the exam and make it free and fair.
In Kakching district, total of 1,847 candidates including 947 females are appearing the examination at six different centres including Kakching Higher Secondary School; Martin Grammar School; Eureka High School, Thounaojam; Wabagai Higher Secondary School; Kakching Khunou High School and Langmeidong Higher Secondary School.
In Jiribam district, the HSLC examination-2024 commenced at three centres with total of 577 candidates appearing the exam.
A total of 210 candidates are appearing the exam at Jiribam Higher Secondary School centre, 226 at Sorok Atingbi High School centre and 141 candidates at Borobekra Higher Secondary School centre.
