TNL asks Tangkhul bodies to focus on quality education

Ukhrul, November 14 2013: In the wake of raging controversy over the appointment of Zonal Education Officer of Ukhrul, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has called upon the Tangkhul Naga bodies to focus on the quality of education in the district.

In a joint meeting convened at TNL office, the Tangkhul organizations had a consultation on the controversy surrounding the appointment of Ukhrul ZEO in-charge and expressed their strong disapproval against the government policy of appointing officials on interim basis.

After a long deliberation on the issue, TNL president Artax A Shimray asserted that it is time to focus on and work for the quality of education in the district.

The organizations were unanimous that the system of appointing heads of offices and officials on in-charge basis should be done away as it hampered official functioning to a great extent.

In recent time, the Tangkhul bodies exchanged brickbats in local dailies on the matter of P.Hungyo, who has been appointed as Ukhrul ZEO in-charge.

On this, TNL president stated that this practice be stopped immediately and focus on improving the status of education in the district.

He said the organization should monitor and evaluate that the RTE programme are implemented effectively and extend possible assistance to implementing agency.
