Test capcity, jab rate dip; state sees 439 new cases, 9 deaths

Imphal, August 14 2021:
In what could be termed as laxity on the part of the government in the ftght against Covid-19, daily testing capacity and vaccination rate are coming down in the past couple of weeks regardless of the state constantly registering one of the highest daily positivity rates in the country.
Meanwhile, Saturday reported nine death cases and 439 new positive cases out of 3477 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 12.63 per cent against 12.88 per cent on Friday.
So far, all efforts to bring down the positivity rate to single digit are proving futile, let alone bringing down to below 5 per cent, which is required for stopping the transmission chain.
The active caseload has come down to 6528 out of which 2454 (37.59 per cent) are in home isolation, 2003 (30.68 per cent) in CHICs, 1179 (18.06 per cent) in CCCs and 892 (13.66 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 134 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 360 are on oxygen support and 68 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 38 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Saturday evening, 231 beds including 68 ICU/HDU beds in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on district hospitals, CHCs and CCCs.
However, as of Friday evening, 2368 beds are available in different CCCs, and 272 beds (16 ICU/HDU) are available in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 78,268 positive cases and 1326 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month saw an addition of 9169 new cases and 144 fatalities out of which 4080 new cases and 60 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, one of the new positive cases is a jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the remaining438 cases (205 male & 233 female) are from among the general population.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (18), JNIMS (21), District Hospitals (290) and other testing centres (110).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (88), Imphal West (164), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (53), Kakching (19), Ukhrul (7), Churachandpur (33), Chandel (l), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (5), Tengnoupal (1), Jiribam (2), Noney (5), Pherzawl (26), Kamjong (2) and Kangpokpi (14).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 9 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age & gender information have been provided.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (5), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (2) and Tamenglong (1).The cumulative number of deaths is 1700.Out of the nine victims, one had no co-morbid conditions and one had received 1st dose of Covid vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 573 patients were discharged from home isolation (236), RIMS (17), JNIMS (19), CCCs (145) and CHICs (157).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,07,668 (general population - 1,03,600 and CAPF personnel - 4,068).Number of recovered cases is 99,440 (general population - 95,424 and CAPF personnel - 4,016) and number of active cases is 6,528 (general population - 6,481 and CAPF personnel - 47).The recovery rate is 92.35 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1529 D-type and 417 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 4191 vaccine doses were administered on Friday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,65,747.However, number of people who have been fully vaccinated is only 2,69,573 even though 3,31,631 individuals are eligible to get the second shot of Covid vaccine.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (36,245), Imphal East (24,117), Thoubal (8819), Churachandpui (9156), Kangpok-pi (2520), Tamenglong (2935), Bishnupur (8175), Senapati (1956), Ukhrul (1939), Kakching (5897), Chandel (2083), Noney (940), Tengnoupal (1003), Jiribam (979), Kamjong (608) and Pherzawl (296).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (571), Imphal East (400), Thoubal (155), Churachandpur (146), Kangpokpi (55), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (169), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (23), Kakching (104), Chandel (31), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (12), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Meanwhile, 12 new positive cases were detected out of 78 samples tested from Friday 2 pm to Saturday 2 pm in Kakching district.
One case was detected at Jivan Hospital, one at Ema Hospital and 10 at government RAT sites.
One is from Chandel district and the remaining 11 are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 34,698 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,074 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,71,812 tests per million population against the national average of 3,52,442 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 3477 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 12.63 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.33 per cent.
