10 UGs held in valley, pompi SBL guns seized in hills

Imphal, February 14 2025:
Security forces arrested 10 cadres of various armed outfits during search operations carried out on Thursday and Friday at different locations and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
According to police, the arrestees include six members of KCP (PWG) namely Lanpoklakpam Sanathoi Meitei alias Kaoba (23) son of L Apik Meitei of Torbung Bangla but presently residing near 7MR gate, Khabeisoi; Sanabam Amitkumar Singh (40) son of late S Ibochou Singh of Haorang Keirel Mayai Leikai; Seram Prem Singh alias Bemsingh (49) son of late S Bijoy Singh; Md Ithem (55) son of late Md Najeruddin of Khomidok Masjid Maning; Thokchom Lanchenba Singh alias Mutum (22) son of Th Doren Singh of Heirok Part-2 Bazar, and Md Salim Khan alias Md Amir (32) son of late Md Amiriddin; three KCP (Noyon) members identified as Kangjam Pradip Singh (38) alias Pari alias Tenoi son of K Thoiba Singh of Phubala Awang Leikai; Thokchom Romeshchandra Singh alias Ayangba (33) son of late Th Nilachandra Singh of Phubala Awang Maning Leikai; and Leimapokpam Sanjit Meitei alias Naobi (54) son of late Gunamani Meitei; and a PREPAK member namely Moirangthem Alexander Singh (22) son of M Amuba of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen.
The items recovered from the apprehended persons as well as during search operations consisted of two single-barrel rifles, a modified sniper rifle with scope, one country-made pistol, five 36 HE hand grenades, IEDs weighing one kg, two kg with wire, and 900 gram, 15 rounds of .303 rifle, two INSAS rifle rounds, two 9mm pistol rounds, 27 casings of .303 rifle, 10 casings of AK rifle, six 16mm (live) signal cartridges, two INSAS magazines, one dye marker grenade, four tear smoke shells, three stun shells (normal), three gas gun shells, two Baofeng handsets, one drone remote controller (made in China) and a magazine pouch.
In the hill districts the weapons recovered by the security forces included an assault rifle (7.62 mm type B1), one magazine type Bl, seven rounds of 7.62 mm, two local-made mortars (Pompi) with a live shell, three 9 mm rounds and three Baofeng radio sets.
The said items were recovered from areas under Chakpikarong police station.
In Kangpokpi district, the security forces recovered one 303 sniper rifle (modified), four pistols with magazine, two SBBL guns, three long range projectile launchers (Pompi), two 36 HE hand grenades, two hand grenades (modified), lever of 36 HE hand grenade, two wireless sets (Baofeng & UV-10R), one stun shell normal, one 38mm anti-riot cartridge and ten SBBL rounds.
The arrested persons along with recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the police stations concerned for further actions.
