Governor extends greetings on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba

Governor of Manipur V Shanmuganathan has extended warm greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Mera Houba, 2015 .
In his message, Governor Shanmuganathan said that Meera Chaoren Houba is a traditional festival of Manipur and it is being celebrated on the advent of Mera-tha (September-October).
He wishes that "Let us celebrate the festival in its true spirit and preserve the age-old tradition of peaceful co-existence of all communities in the State" .
The Governor said that the people celebrate the festival with religious fervour and gaiety, the festival also promotes unity and integrity amongst all the communities settled in the State.
Over the ages, the festival has come to signify unity and integrity of the people in the State, said Shanmuganathan.
"I hopefull that the festival will strengthen the bond of unity and integrity among the different communities and usher in peace and prosperity in the State", the statement added.
Meanwhile, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has extended also extended warm greetings on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba.
The party wished that the festival brings peace, unity and prosperity to all the people in Manipur.
