Medical assessment camp for PWD held

ZEO/DPO-SSA (IED ) Thoubal has organized a medical assessment camp for children with special needs at Khangabok Higher Secondary School today.
During the assessment camp, different stalls were opened for hearing impairment, audio testing, visual impairment, intellectual disability, orthopaedic etc, to identify children with special needs to provide hearing aids, wheel chair, tricycle, crutch, rollattor, CP chair, MR kits, canes, braille slate etc.
Identification for surgery correction, allowances, main stream to school, disability and school plans were also done during the camp.
Regarding the assessment camp, S Satishkumar Singh, District Co-ordinator IED, SSA, Thoubal said that most of the parents and guardians of the disabled persons are reluctant to seek medical treatment of their wards, which is unfortunate adding that it is important to screen such disabled person to identify their nature of disability so that they be brought to mainstream life by providing education.
