Winger vehicle, JCB torched by miscreants at different places

Imphal, June 13 2011:
One taxi service Winger vehicle and a JCB were torched by unidentified men suspected to be UGs at different places in the last 24-hours, police reports said Monday.
The Winger (MN06L-4551) was set afire by the suspected UGs at a place between Toubungkhok and Patsoi part-II, five km southeast of Patsoi PS this morning around 7 am after being hijacked from North AOC, Imphal.
An unidentified man hijacked the vehicle after the driver was convinced to pick up a man from Nambol.
After reaching Nambol, a man with a bottle containing petrol in his hand stepped into the vehicle and asked the driver to proceed to Changangei to pick up another man.
The driver Sarangthem Thoithoi of Hiyangthang Mayai Leikai said that on reaching Changangei, the two unidentified men asked him to proceed to Patsoi.
From Patsoi they forced him to proceed towards Taobungkhok, midway he was asked to stop at an open place and asked him to go away leaving behind the vehicle.
They then torched the vehicle.
The two men informed him they were members of PLA/RPF, the driver said.
He added the two left the place in a Maruti 800 .
The ill-fated vehicle owned by Khundrakpam Loken of Utlou Maning Leikai was plying on Imphal-Dimapur section of the highway as a taxi.
The wife of the owner fainted on seeing the condition of the vehicle.
She was immediately rushed at RIMS hospitals.
On the other hand, a JCB machine was burnt down by some unidentified persons suspected to belong to a group of KCP last night at Andro Kharam in Imphal east district.
The JCB belonged to one Sanabam Shyam and was hired by Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar for taking up drainage cleaning works at Andro Kharam area.
MLA Shyamkumar has strongly condemned the act.
