Nonthangngamba wins competition

Imphal, November 12 2024:
he Superintendent of Post Offices, Manipur Division, Imphal has felicitated the winner of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter Writing Competition 2024 for North East Circle category, conducted by the Department of Posts.
Nonthangngamba T(14) of Sainik School, Imphal secured the 1st prize and received a cash award of Rs 25,000 and a certificate signed by the Secretary (Posts).
The cash award and the certificate were handed over to him by Razuzakie Phinyo, Superintendent of Post Offices, Manipur Division.
The second and third prizes were secured by Ruangriu Panmei of Nagaland and Snehasish Banik of Agartala who received Rs 10000 and Rs 5000 respectively.
L Radheshyam, Postmaster, Imphal Head Post Office attended the felicitation programme.
This is the first time a student from Manipur has won the prestigious award of the competition.
The participants were asked to "write a letter to the future generations about the world you hope they inherit".
At the National Level, the first prize was won by Aathira AM of Tamil Nadu who got a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a certificate.
The competition is organised by the Department of Posts, which is a member of UPU, every year in January and February.
In its 150 years of existence, UPU has served people around the world for more than eight generations.
