Governor, CM lead in Chakkouba greetings

Governor V Shanmuganathan, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra, MLA Th Shyamkumar, president of BJP Manipur, Th Chaoba, Maj Gen PN Rao, GOC Red Shield Division, Maj Gen VS Sreenivas, IG AR (South) and others have conveyed warm greetings and good wishes to the people of the State especially to those married womenfolk of the State on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In a greeting message, Governor V Shanmuganathan said Ningol Chakkouba is celebrated in all the Meitei families, rich and poor alike, and these intimate and nostalgic moments strengthen the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters.
In fact, the role of the festival significantly stands out as it helps in keeping the social fabric intact.
It is a very positive development that other communities also have appreciated the ethos of this festival and have taken to celebrating the festival, the Governor said while urging all concerned to celebrate the festival in its true spirit.
CM O Ibobi observed that the significance of this festival is such that, though originally observed amongst the Meitei community, it has now extended to other communities in Manipur thereby reinforcing unity amidst diversity in the State.
The CM called upon all concerned to imbibe the ideals associated with the festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill.
Parliamentary Secretary K Meghachandra wished Ningol Chakkouba brings the real meaning of love and bond of unity among all the ethnic communities of Manipur and the respect of Manipuri women by not committing any crime or atrocities against them.
President of BJP Manipur Th Chaoba wished Ningol Chakkouba strengthens the bond of love and brotherhood among diverse ethnic communities of the State.
Maj Gen PN Rao, SM, GOC Red Shield Division wished that the spirit of Ningol Chakkouba cements the bond between people of Manipur.
Major General VS Sreenivas, IGAR (South) and all ranks of Assam Rifles extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
IGAR (South) expressed hope that the festival will herald in an era of progress and prosperity in the region and promote unity, integrity and peaceful coexistence of all communities in the State.
The age-old tradition of Manipur will reinforce the unique significance and primacy accorded to women in Manipuri society and encourage them to strive for peace and prosperity in the State.
CPI (ML) Liberation, Manipur State Committee also extended heartiest Ningol Chakkouba greetings to the people.
