Imphal, October 12 2015: Troops of the 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post in general area of Pangai and apprehended two NRFM cadres on October 11 .

The apprehendees were identified as Ningthoujam Jibam Meitei alias Punshiba (40), son of N Garani Meitei of Laphupat Tera Ningolkhong Mapal under Waikhong Police Station and Houbijam Ibomcha alias Angou (31), son of H Heramani Singh of Lamsang Khunou under Lamsang Police Station, PRO HQ IGAR (S) said in a statement on Monday.

One identity Card of Criminal Investigation Department (Special Branch), Government of Manipur, eight out pass cards of KCP (MC), ten extortion notes of NRFM and one Activa scooter bearing Registration Number MN 01U 3136 were recovered from their possession.

Investigation revealed that they distributed demand letters signed by NRFM Finance Secretary and collected money from various businessmen, contractors and Government Departments in Imphal area.

The apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Heingang Police Station.
