Ukhrul, October 11 2024:
The Sambu Raiping Shanao Long (SRSL) organised a two-day training and awareness programme on "Child Raising" at Hamleikhong Community Hall, Ukhrul.
The programme was sponsored by Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
During the event, resource person Yaopei Shimray, women secretary, ETNBA, dwelt on the parenting duties and responsibilities.
Quoting from the Bible, she said "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it" .
Parents face different obstacles in raising kids, but that should not be the reason to distract or dishearten from exerting insistent effort to overcome the challenges or pressures from different angles, she said.
"Contemporary trends pose immense challenges in passing on our faith to kids whose priorities are more focused on video and mobile games, sporting events etc", she pointed out.
She also mentioned that peer pressure offers temptation to kids to do drugs, consume alcohol and other harmful activities.
Parents have to give more time and spend time with children and allow them to share their views and opinions to understand their desires and problems in order to create a strong and meaningful family.
Meanwhile, on behalf of women organizations, Shanti Awungshi, chairperson, SSRL expressed warm gratitude to Ramnganing Zimik, MFS, CFO, TA & Hills for his support in making the training programme successful.
The programme was attended by more than 60 women from Sambu area villages under Sahamphung Block of Kamjong district including John Gadingam AO, TRAI, Imphal Government of Manipur.
