Imphal, September 11 2019: A 33 year old man, who has been accused of raping his own cousin sister and has been on the run since then was arrested last night and produced before the Court today.

The accused was produced before the Court of the Special Judge, POCSO, Imphal West today and remanded to 6 days police custody.

The IO of the case submitted that as per a complaint lodged by the mother of the victim girl, the child who is physically handicapped, was sexually molested in the month of March this year, and a complaint was filed only on September 6.After the case was registered, the house of the accused was raided but he had fled by then.

Later Wangoi police arrested him last night and handed him over to the Women Police Station and during preliminary investigation, the accused partially admitted to have committed the crime, submitted the IO.

The IO then pleaded that the accused be remanded to police custody for 6 days so that he can be thoroughly investigated.

After perusing the matter, the Court remanded the accused to police custody till September 16 .
