State budget session begins

The eight session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly or the Budget session began today with the House giving obituary reference in connection with the death of former Minister and veteran politician Md Helaluddin Khan.
The House also observed a two-minute silence in honour of the late leader, who was elected four times from Lilong Assembly constituency in Thoubal district.
In his obituary remark, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh recalled that Md Helaluddin represented Lilong constituency several times and worked uncompromisingly for equal development for the people of both the valley and the hill.
The death of Helaluddin is a great loss to all, Ibobi said, adding that the former Minister was a man of his words who dedicated his life for the welfare of the people.
Ibobi said, "We'll always stand by the side of his bereaved family." Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir said though the former Minister was brought up in an affluent family, he sacrificed all his possessions for the people of Manipur.
During the last stage of his life, Md Helaluddin was left with nothing, but a home to live for his family, Nasir claimed.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshwar Singh, IFC Minister I Hemochandra, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, MLAs Dr I Ibohalbi, P Brojen, Fazlur ahim, Th Shyamkumar and O Lukhoi were also among others who gave their obituary remarks.
Md Helaluddin passed away on April 25 this year at his private residence in Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
The budget session of Manipur Legislative Assembly will have 12 sittings and it will continue till July 28 .
