'Chingkhei Lammit Meira' title for OC Meira

Imphal, December 10 2017: In a cultural ceremony, filmmaker and writer Oinamcha Meira has been conferred the title of Chingkhei Lammit Meira by the Ima Leisem Inat Yokhat Lup .

The ceremony was held around 2pm at the Manipur State Film Development Society in which Th Satyabrata, MLA Yaiskul AC as the chief guest, Prof Th Ratankumar, Director College Development Council (CDC) MU as the guest of honour and Ch Chanuchenbi Leima, president, Ima Leishem Innat Loishang as the event's president .

According to the organiser, OC Meira was selected for his unbiased and critical writings.

The acclaimed filmmaker and writer is also a recipient of several other awards .

A book on film industry titled Mamlasanu Taibangpal was also released during the ceremony .

It was resolved in the event that this book is not only valuable but will also fill a huge void that exists in the world of Manipuri literature that has a severe scarcity of reading material.

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Satyabrata spoke on the importance of conserving culture and tradition.

He added he felt proud when he see people who follow their culture.

This, he said, is a great pride of being a Manipuri .

Prof Ratan in his speech emphasized that all are responsible for the preservation of their own culture.

He added that those people are obnoxious who look down on people who are working for the preservation of their culture.
