Imphal, June 10 2021:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has drawn the attention of the government and affiliating body Manipur University towards the need for timely mending of shortages of teacher education as well as conduct of Common Entrance Test and academic audit at the earliest.
According to a statement of DESAM publicity & propaganda secretary Sh Rishikumar, the decision taken by the government to start ITEP, which indeed is part of the DESAM's long vision on improving teacher education, is quite fortunate but the present state of teacher education seems to be lacking attention from the government.
Despite lodging of written complaints to commissioner (H&TE), director (University & HE) and registrar (Manipur University), both the government and affiliating body Manipur University (central) have been unable to bring solution to the two petty issues.
While appealing to the minister and officials concerned to conduct Common Entrance Test (CET) and select candidates who possessed Teaching Aptitude & Attitude (TAA), DESAM warned that the matter should not be taken lightly and common online CET could be conducted in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
