Imphal, December 09 2011:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) MLA R.K Anand onFriday said the newly floated political party, Naga People's Party (NPF) is a "political umbrella" with the aim of Naga integration in the State.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of inauguration of a local community hall at Langthabal, R K Anand, MLA said that peace parleys between NSCN-IM and the Government of India are still continuing and that sometimes the peace process poses a "big threat" to Manipur, and the people of the State are not free from threats caused by the talks.
The recent issue of "Supra-State Body" which has created a strained state in Manipur is now relatively calm following the assurance given by the Prime Minister during his recent visit to the State, Anand said.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohon Singh on his visit to Manipur on December 3 had clearly stated that there would be no compromise on the State's territorial integrity which alleviated the distress of the people, the MLA added.
Anand also strongly urged the political parties in the State to field candidates who can win where NPF candidates are contesting in the upcoming polls to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
