Minister bats for long term Agri policy

Imphal, December 08 2012: To develop agriculture and make Manipur self reliant in food production, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Md Abdul Nasir has assured that all necessary measures for putting in place a long term Agricultural Policy in the State would be taken up.

The Minister was speaking on the occasion of distributing seeds to the farmers of Andro and Khurai A/C at Phaknung Awang Leikai today.

The programme was organized by Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur.

The Minister further stated that seeds for Rabi crops have been distributed today so that the farmers of Andro and Khurai can sow these seeds in fields which normally remain unattended during winter season.

He also appealed to the farmers of the state to have work culture for increasing their production to make Manipur a self reliant State.

Only then the state can be developed.

The function was also attended by MLA Dr Ng Bijoy, MLA Th Shyamkumar and othr officials of the Agriculture department.
