Imphal, September 08 2022:
As elections could not be held in free and fair manner, representatives elected through such elections have been working against public interest, said Shiv Sena State unit president M Tombi.
Speaking at the opening function of a new party office at Babupara today, M Tombi decried that elections could not be held in free and fair manner even though India has completed 75 years of independence.
There have been many instances of elected representatives working against public interest soon after they grabbed political power and the root of such misconduct can be traced to the elections which were neither free nor fair, he said.
Tombi said that they have already submitted a representation to the Prime Minister and the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding how the election process was twisted.
He said that Shiv Sena would give preference to women belonging to minority communities in the upcoming local body elections including the ADC election.
The party would extend full physical and financial support to the women candidates so as to ensure maximum number of them win the elections, Tombi said.
He appealed to all concerned to stop wooing voters by offering intoxicating substances and taking recourse to unfair and unethical means.
Tombi informed that he would take part in a meeting of the presidents of BJP State units scheduled on September 12 at Mumbai.
Saying that BJP and Shiv Sena would share seats for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation election, Tombi said that he would urge Shiv Sena central leaders to make similar arrangements in other States too including Manipur.
He also decried the State Government's failure to declare the results of the 10th and 11th IRB recruitment exams.
Noting that railway service would reach Imphal in the next couple of years, M Tombi urged the State Government to set up a separate railway board of the State and ensure that 50 per cent seats are reserved for the youth of the State as and when recruitments are made to the board.
