Imphal, August 08 2015 :
Manipur unit of Janata Dal (United) has said people of Manipur do not have trust and confidence in the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre and demanded that the latter must not hurt the sentiment of a community while trying to gratify another group.
On Saturday, State JD (U) president M Tombi while addressing media at the party office here asked the Manipur BJP unit to bring out in public the detailed documents of the peace accord signed between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) on August 3 .
He reminded the NDA Government headed by Narendra Modi about the burning of Manipur Legislative Assembly building to the ground by people of Manipur in 2001 after the Bangkok agreement.
The June 18 Uprising was triggered by the then BJP Government at the Centre, he said and demanded that the State BJP leadership take a bigger role this time in the wake of the public apprehension over the Naga accord.
M Tombi said Chief Minister O Ibobi who is now in New Delhi should return to the State along with a copy of the peace accord and place it before the public.
The Chief Minister should also come back with a written assurance from the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister stating that the Naga accord will not impinge on Manipur's boundary, Tombi further said.
The party welcomes integration of Nagas, but if the territorial integrity of Manipur is affected in the process, the State BJP must own up the entire responsibility, the JD (U) president said.
He also appealed to the State Government to end the current ILP movement by giving the demand of the public at an earliest.
Tombi further demanded that besides the six police personnel, all police officers responsible for the killing of Sapam Robinhood should also be suspended and that cops who brutally thrashed a school girl during a protest here should also be placed under suspension.
Notably, six cops from Imphal East District Police were suspended by an order of the Superintendant of Police, Imphal East on Friday in connection with the killing of Sapam Robinhood.
