International Mother's Day celebrated across state

As in other parts of the world, civil societies and institutions celebrated International Mother's Day in various parts of the state on Sunday.
Heirok-based Ningol Club, CITY Club and Service for Humanity jointly celebrated International Mother's Day with a free dental camp at Chingdompok High School, Heirok Part II.
The celebration was attended by CITY Club president Ningthoujam Ibomcha, IDA Manipur State Branch immediate past president Dr T Nabachandra, CADA president Hijam Priyokumar and Ningol Club president Sophiya Khundongbam as the presidium members.
In all, 35 doctors volunteered in conducting the dental camp during which around 500 people from Heirok and nearby villages were examined for any health issues.
Similarly, United Club and Library (UCAL) and Uripok Women's Association (UWA) celebrated Mother's Day at UCAL community hall, Uripok Khwairak Selungba Leirak with UCAL president Ratan Luwang and UWA president Thongam Manglembi Devi as the presidium members.
Simple gifts were presented to mothers of the locality and their hands and feet washed as a part of the event.
International Mother's Day was also observed widely in Noney district with special prayer pro grammes and gospel teaching organised; in all the churches followed by presentation of gifts to mothers and widows.
Special food items were also served by near and dear ones.
On the other hand, Noney Battalion Assam Rifles of 22 Sector and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) organised an interaction cum meet of women folks at the church of Company Operating Base Kotlein to mark the celebration of Mother's Day.
The Kotlein unit organised a get together of womenfolk of all ages especially mothers.
An interactive lecture was also conducted wherein importance of women in uplifting every aspect of society was discussed.
A total of 74 women participated actively in the programme by following Covid-19 related protocols.
On the occasion of International Mother's day, Chanura Lamjinglen Kan gleipak (CLK) presented gifts to five mothers who have been dedicating their lives for the social cause and are flag bearers of important issues of the state.
CLK functionaries also prayed for long and healthy lives of the five mothers.
Meanwhile, Heirok High School Science teacher Ningthoujam Ajit of Heirok Part-II distributed edible items to women vendors at Heirok Keithel in memory of his late mother.
