Cong team discusses state's situation with Governor

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) members led by its leader O Ibobi along with Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, called on the Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.
The former CM and his team greeted Ajay Kumar Bhalla on being appointed as the Governor of Manipur.
The team - which also included MPCC president K Meghachandra, Khundrakpam MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh, Sugnu MLA K Ranjit and Khangabok MLA Surjakumar Okram - discussed about the unrest situation and the hardships that the people of Manipur have been facing and made suggestions which the Governor welcomed.
The team simultaneously urged for all to work collectively for the people of the state.

Speaking to newspersons after meeting the Governor, Ibobi contided that the Congress delegation held discussion with the new Governor on ways to restore peace and normalcy in the state as soon as possible.
He said that the party shared constructive suggestions to the Governor, and also assured of all possible help in this regard.
According to the opposition leader, the Governor was briefed on the rising number of IDPs taking the extreme step of ending their lives, and the need for taking swift actions to address such dire situation without delay.

there is no sight of restoration of peace and normalcy," Ibobi told reporters.
"Restoration of normalcy is not just decline in incidents of tiring...
only when inmates of relief camps return to their original homes can we presume that normalcy has returned," the Congress leader added.
Meanwhile, Dr Rameshori, assistant professor at Manipur University, along with two others, called on Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla later in the day.
According to a release issued by Raj Bhavan PRO, Dr Rameshori apprised the Governor of the various aquaculture projects the University is currently working on to support farmers and entrepreneurs.
She also provided a comprehensive overview of the fishery industry in the state.
Furthermore, she invited the Governor to inaugurate a new hatchery at the University.
The Governor appreciated the University's efforts to promote the fishery industry in the region and assured his support in extending possible assistance.
Later in the evening, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla reviewed the implementation of the three new criminal laws in the state.
He was briefed by senior officers, including the Director General of Police (DGP) and the commissioner (Home) .
