Imphal, January 08 2021: The agitation spearheaded by the Coordinating Committee, JNIMS against the extension of Th Bhimo Singh's term as the Director of the institute has been suspended follow-ing an emergency general body meeting of the com-mittee held today.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of Dr H Kulabidhu Singh discussed various developments after the agitation was launched.

The committee after careful deliberations resolved to suspend the agitation on the ground that the advertisement for new Director of JNIMS was issued by the Additional Chief Secretary (Works/Tpt/Hort and SC), Link Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) and Chairman, Executive Committee, JNIMS Society; based on the assurance given by the incumbent Director to resign once NMC inspection visit comes and considering the students' career and public interest.

It was also resolved that the suspension of the agitation is subject to not initiating any disciplinary action against any of the executives of the coordinating committee.
