Rally against abduction of brickfield labourers

Imphal, December 07 2012: A protest rally against the abduction of two labourers of HVS Brick Field Patsoi over a monetary demand of Rs 1.5 crores by KCP (Lamyanba Khuman), was taken out today.

The protest rally which was participated by hundreds of labourers of HVS Brick Field started off from the brick field at around 11:30 am and proceeded till Khumbong Bazaar along NH 37.From there, the rallyists returned to the Brick Field.

During the rally, the protestors were seen holding festoons and placards which read "Let's live together", "Save the life of labourers", "Release the two abducted labourers safely", "We want peace", "Do not torture the labourers", "Let's live in peace" etc.

It may be recalled that KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) had reportedly demanded a sum of Rs 1.5 crores from the proprietor of HVS brick field and to exact the amount, the armed group abducted the two labourers namely Hawaibam Suresh (22), s/o H Tomba of Khaidem Awang Leikai, Patsoi and Jallauddin (27) of Halakandi district, Assam on the evening of November 24 last.

The whereabouts of the two abducted labourers still not known.
