Imphal, September 07 2014:
Expressing strong exception to the alleged detention and harassment of its Education Secretary by personnel of 24 Assam Rifles posted at Khudengthabi, KSO General Headquarters today demanded clarification and apology from the 24 Assam Rifles.
In a statement issued today by Laxman Kom, Information Secretary of KSO, the students' body threatened that it will amplify the issue unless the AR personnel tender apology for their misconduct.
The statement recounted that 24 AR personnel posted at Khudengthabi detained the education secretary of KSO GHQ at the check post at around 6 pm, while he was on his way to hometown Moreh on a motor cycle.
The personnel, who were in an inebriated state demanded him to speak in Hindi when the secretary tried to converse in English, it narrated while adding that the personnel also threatened to shoot him down as UG cadre.
The AR personnel did not care, even when he identified himself as a student, it further said.
Normally commercial vehicles are not allowed to proceed on either direction due to some security norms, but small vehicles like bikes are allowed to go.
However, on that particular day, the KSO executive was detained and subjected to harassment, it alleged.
It may be mentioned that the KSO executive was returning to Moreh after attending to a problem relating to Old Samtal's IED explosion incident and the eventual eviction of two families from the village.
KSO statement also said that student leaders are prompted to take journey even in the most unlikely hours because of the nature of the emergency of the business, which is taking up public causes.
