Imphal, August 06 2015:
The three MPs from Manipur Thokchom Meinya, Thangsho Baite and Abdul Salam have submitted a joint memorandum to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday relating to the signing of the peace accord between the union government and the NSCN (IM).
The framework agreement was signed on August 3.The MPs expressed their view that a lasting peace should be found out without disturbing the territories of the neighbouring states in general and Manipur in particular.
The memorandum said that there is anxiety among the people relating to the peace accord.
They warned of a grave situation if the accord is against the territorial interest of the states.
The MPs reminded the prime minister that when Manipur was merged to India on October 15, 1949 there was a well defined boundary.
It is the wish of the people that it be protected, respected and maintained.
It is the pride of the people that the boundary should never be compromised.
There should be a lasting solution to the armed movement in the region.
But such a solution should never be at the cost of the territories of the neighbouring states, the memo concluded.
