The Higher Education Department of the State has issued an office memorandum on August 5 for improvement of general functioning of colleges through focus on assigned roles and tasks to regain the congenial atmosphere essential for education.
Altogether 16 guidelines have been listed in the office memorandum.
All College Principals have been instructed to enforce strict and proper control in the functioning of the College in all aspects of its administration including class-room teaching, punctuality and regular attendance of both teaching/non-teaching faculty and students.
Students/representatives of College Students' Unions should not resort to strikes/agitations/bandhs/boycotts.
If necessary, College Principals may consider taking bonds/undertakings from the students at the time of admission and election in case of representatives, the memorandum said.
The college authorities have also been instructed strictly to take action against those students who vandalize college properties.
The transfer and posting of teachers would also be taken up by the Government from time to time according to the needs of the colleges in the State, it noted.
