Imphal, June 06 2019: Manipur Information Commission has slapped a fine on the EE who is the SPIO of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) for failing to supply necessary information sought through an RTI.

The order was issued by the Manipur Information Commission on June 4, following an RTI which was filed by one A Keshorjit in connection with the construction of the library of Modern College.

According to the directive of the Commission, the SPIO failed to appear when the Commission summoned him and the official even failed to reply to a show cause notice which was served to him by the Commission.

As such, the Commission ordered the official to pay a total of Rs 7250 (Rs 250 per day calculated from May 7 to June 4) as fine within a month.

The Commission further directed the DDO of MTDC to deduct the said fine from the EE's salary and to deposit it to the Government' s account, apart from submitting a report regarding the same to the Commission.
