One killed in mishap

Imphal, June 06 2011: A 25 year old youth was killed in a road accident near the Khangabok BSNL Exchange Office along the NH 39 at around 2 pm on June 5 when a vehicle of 27 Assam Rifles hit a scooter leaving the driver of the scooter injured.

The victim was identified as Wahengbam Ibungo alias Suresh (25) son of W Khongnem of Samram Mayai Leikai.

He succumbed to his injuries at the spot.

The injured person who was driving the scooter was identified as Asem Romesh (25) of the same locality.

He was rushed to RIMS hospitals.

Death body of Ibungo was handed over the family members after conducting post mortem at JNIMS mortuary.

Thoubal police has registered a case regarding the accident.

Meanwhile, a civil truck and a truck of Assam Rifles collided with each other near Lilong Bridge along the NH 39 today at around 9.20 am leaving both the vehicles smash up.

Fortunately no one was injured in the accident.
