Workshop on 'NITI Aayog'

Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa on Monday stated that Panchayat bodies face a lot of snag while executing duty because of low status and meager honorarium.
The minister inaugurated a four-day long workshop on "Bottom up Approach," a plan initiated under National Institute of Transforming India (NITI) Aayog of Government of India, at the Panchayat Bhavan.
The programme is being organized by Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Manipur.
Francis Ngajokpa, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stated that facilities given to the Panchayat bodies were not comparable to the conveniences provided to the District Councils.
"Because of their status and meager honourarium, Panchayat representatives are facing a lot of obstacle in executing duty," the minister said.
He emphasized the need for even out the stratum of both the Panchayat and District Councils.
Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Director Dr K Shyamsundar, who was also present at the event, informed that NITI Aayog was recently set up up by the Centre after abolishing the previous Planning Commission.
He informed that all flagship programmes in Manipur now would be taken up under NITI Aayog.
