Government releases pension funds under NSAP

Minister for Social Welfare Okram Henry today announced that the pension benefits for six months under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) have been transferred to the respective bank accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) using Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
Speaking to media persons at his official residence at Babupara today Okram Henry said that a sum of Rs 9.26 crore was released by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India as pensionary benefits for 6 (six) months w.e.f.April 2020 to September 2020 for beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS), Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme (IGNWPS), and Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme (IGNDPS) under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP).
Altogether 61,426 beneficiaries will be receiving the pension amount from April to September 2020 in their respective bank accounts.
55,160 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, 5,355 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme and 911 beneficiaries are for Indira Gandhi National Disability Pension Scheme, he added.
He also mentioned that the technical issues regarding transfer of pensionary benefits to bank accounts maintained at erstwhile UBI (now Punjab National Bank) has been sorted out by PFMS and the concerned Bank (P&B).
And the Department has started releasing the benefits under NSAP including those beneficiaries whose accounts are maintained at erstwhile UBI (now merged to PNB), he added.
