Revenue in terms of lacs lost due to UNC's bandh

Owing to the ongoing indefinite bandh imposed by United Naga Council (UNC) in Naga inhabited areas from September 4, revenue worth lakhs of rupees to be collected by Taxation Department for accruing to the State exchequer has been lost.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, H Chaoba, Inspector, Taxation Department, who is posted at Hengbung along NH -2 in Senapati district, said that the Taxation office at Hengbung collected Rs 65, 000 as casual tax from vehicles per day and Rs 1-2 lakh as regular tax.
He stated that around 100 good laden trucks ply along NH-2 every day and informed that a huge amount of Rs 17, 97, 592 was collected by Taxation office at Hengbung in the month of August.
He further informed that revenue worth Rs 21, 51, 454 in July, Rs 17, 61, 889 in June, Rs 18, 59, 920 in May and Rs 19, 33, 503 were accrued to the government from the taxes collected by the Taxation office, Hengbung.
The Taxation Department had collected revenue amount of Rs 1, 64, 55, 060 in the year 2012-13 while in the year 2013-14, it collected Rs 2, 00, 32, 162; he disclosed.
He lamented that the check post at Hengbung has been facing shortage of power supply and potable drinking water thereby affected its normal functioning.
He also said that cracks have been appeared on wall of the office which needs repairing at the earliest.
