Imphal, July 05 2019: National Investigation Agency (NIA), Guwahati today arrested one S/S 2nd Lt of PLA/RPF in connection with a case registered with the agency.

The case registered at NIA Guwahati pertains to an ambush carried out by RPF/PLA and another militant group on troops of 4th Assam Rifles who were on ROP duty on November 15, 2017 at Chamol-Sajik Tampak road, Chandel district.

The ambush resulted in death of one AR personnel and severe injuries to another.

Two UG cadres were killed in the encounter.

The arrested PLA cadre has been identified L Priyo Kumar Meitei alias Amuthoi s/o late L Naba Meitei of Yairipok Top Mayai Leikai.

It is reported that S/S 2nd Lt L Priyo Kumar Meitei alias Amuthoi is a member of the PLA's 252 Mobile Battalion and was second in command of the group that laid the ambush on troops of 4th AR on November 15, 2017 .

He has been produced before the NIA Special Court at Imphal and remanded to police custody for 20 days.

2nd Lt L Priyo Kumar was earlier arrested by police in connection with another case on June 12 this year.
