Poll preparations complete: CEO

Chief Electoral Officer PK Singh has announced that all preparations for the Lok Sabha election have been completed so that the election can be held without any hassle on the date fixed by the Election Commission of India.
Speaking to this reporter at his Lamphelpat office today, PK Singh said that vehicles of all sector Magistrates would be equipped with GPS devices and they would carry reserved EVMs.
In addition to the voter slip specifically given for the election, many other documents would be accepted as voter identification documents at the time of casting votes, he said.
Movement of sector Magistrates would be monitored in real time.
For this purpose, EVM control rooms would be opened in all districts.
Another control room would be opened for the mobile app cVIGIL which would be opened for the first time in the Lok Sabha election, said the CEO.
It has been already reported that there would one model polling station and two polling stations exclusively manned by women officials in each and every Assembly segment.
Employees posted in hill districts but utilised in the valley would be given election duty in the hills, not in the valley.
DCs would take up necessary steps to this effect, PK Singh said.
It has also been reported that the ECI is likely to announce election schedule within the next five days or so.
Notably, the CEO has already asked the Central Government to provide 100 companies of Central paramilitary forces for the Lok Sabha election.
