'RN Ravi assures Naga pact will not harm interests of other communities'

Government of India's interlocutor for Naga peace talks RN Ravi on Wednesday assured that the recently signed accord between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India will not harm the interests of other indigenous communities of Manipur.
RN Ravi gave the assurance to members of Citizens Committee, Manipur (CCM) who met RN Ravi in Imphal on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the members had also apprised the interlocutor on different issue confronting Manipur today.
During the meeting, RN Ravi said that the 'framework agreement' between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) was signed within the limits of the Indian Constitution and it will not harm the interest of any indigenous communities of the State, informed Khaidem Mani who was part of the CCM delegation who met Ravi.
RN Ravi also assured that the Government of India will consider the views and suggestions of civil society organisations in Manipur before the Centre inks the final agreement with the NSCN (IM), said Khaidem Mani.
The committee members also demanded that the details of the framework agreement should be made public.
CCM delegation informed RN Ravi that the frequent economic blockades imposed along the national highways have brought immense hardships to the people of Manipur and sought the Centre's intervention in stopping organisations from imposing such blockades.
The Manipur Unit of JD (U) members led by its President M Tombi also met RN Ravi.
The party also told the interlocutor that the Naga Peace Accord or the framework agreement should not lead to breaking of the territorial integrity of Manipur.
During his visit, RN Ravi held several meetings with civil society organisation leaders both from the hills and the valley.
He left Manipur on Wednesday.
