State records 763 new cases, 14 deaths

Even after 17 days of total curfew, the state is seeing not much relief from the Covid-19 pandemic as 14 death cases and 765 new positive cases out of 5259 samples tested were recorded on Wednesday, thus registering a positivity rate of 14.45 per cent against 13.75 per cent of Tuesday.
So far, 71,990 positive cases and 1232 death cases have been recorded since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 5566 new cases and 96 fatalities were recorded in the last seven days.
The current month saw an addition of 2891 new cases and 50 fatalities.
However, the active caseload has declined to 9015 out of which 3590 (39.82 percent) are in home isolation, 2845 (31.56 per cent) in CHICs, 1618 (17.95 per cent) in CCCs and 962 (10.67 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 149 are in ICU/HDU wards, 538 on oxygen support and 70 on ventilator support.
At the same time, 84 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Tuesday night, 100 beds (21 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 92 (24 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, nine (3 ICU/HDU) in LFS Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 153 (13 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1929 beds in different CCCs.
According to official reports, the 765 new positive cases included 763 people (377 male & 386 female) from among the general population and 2 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
Their samples were tested at RIMS (39), JNIMS (27), District Hospitals (517) and other testing centres (182) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (149), Imphal West (285), Thoubal (5l), Bishnupur (100), Kakching (22), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (65), Chandel (16), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (19), Tengnoupal (7), Jiribam (2), Noney (l), Pherzawl (6), Kamjong (n) and Kangpokpi (16) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 14 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (l), Bishnupur (l), Kakching (2), Chandel (l), Kangpokpi (2), Ukhrul (l) and Churachandpur (2).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1606.Out of the 14 victims, three had first dose vaccines and four victims did not have any co-morbid conditions.
In the last 24 hours, 1226 patients were discharged from home isolation (633), RIMS (16), JNIMS (18), CCCs (225) and CHICs (334).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 101,390 (general population - 97,395 CAPF personnel - 3,995).Number of recovered cases is 90,769 (general population - 86,820 and CAPF personnel - 3,949) and number of active cases is 9,015 (general population - 8,974 and CAPF personnel - 41) .
The recovery rate is 89.52 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2259 D-type and 363 B-tvpe Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 10,011 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,23,637 .
Though 2,75,880 individuals are eligible to get the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine, only 2,23,900 people have reported for their second shot so far.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on 1DSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (33,867), Imphal East (22,676), Thoubal (8488), Churachandpur (8649), Kangpokpi (2436), Tamenglong (2845), Bishnupur (7550), Senapati (1849), Ukhrul (1767), Kakching (5682), Chandel (1992), Noney (850), Tengnoupal (970), Jiribam (963), Kamjong (596) and Pherzawl (210).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (545), Imphal East (379), Thoubal (147), Churachandpur (140), Kangpokpj (53), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (150), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (21); Kakching (97), Chandel (31) Noney (4), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4), and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.
Meanwhile, 29 new positive cases were detected out of 211 samples tested from Tuesday 2 pm to Wednesday 2 pm in Kakching district.
Four cases were detected at Jivan Hospital, one at Ema Hospital and 24 at different government RAT sites.
One is from Imphal East and another from Tengnoupal district while the remaining 27 are residents of Kakching district.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 32,675 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,807 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,56,939 tests per million population against the national average of 3,39,230 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 5295 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.45 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.15 per cent.
