InSIDE North East evacuates stranded Manipuris from Shillong

Kangpokpi, June 04 2020: InSIDE-North East in collaboration with the Kuki Student's Organisation, Shillong helped 90 Manipuris who were stranded in Shillong return back home safely.

InSIDE North East sponsored their travel apart from distributing snacks and water bottle to all the returnees who embarked on the journey and safely reached home today.

The returnees, mostly from Churachandpur, Chandel and Kangpokpi are students and migrant workers.

On reaching their respective destinations, they reported to their respective district authority and accordingly were keep under surveillance in the quarantine centres.

Rebecca Baite, one of the returnees, expressed gratitude to InSIDE-North East for sponsoring their travel.

Earlier, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen had also evacuated many stranded Manipuris from Shillong.
