NUHM launched

For the first time in Manipur, National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) was been launched at a function held at Khumukcham Ongbi Leonlee Devi Memorial Community Hall Thangmeiband here today.
Organized by District Health Mission Society, Imphal West, the launching programme was graced by Kh.
Joykishan, MLA Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency as chief guest and K.Radhakumar, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman District Health Society of Imphal West as president.
Dr..SManikanta, state nodal officer of NUHM, SHA, and Councilors Th.Punachandra, H.Nutanchandra and Thambaljao attended the function as guests of honour.
In her keynote address, CMO Imphal west Dr.Bimolakumari Devi, who is also the District Mission Director of DHMS, said that the National Health Mission has already started implementation in other States of India.
National Urban Health Mission will be implemented in three districts of Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West in the State as per the approved programme implementation plan of 2013-14, she disclosed.
For the first phase of implementation of NUHM in Imphal west, ward no.7 (Thangmeiband AC) has been selected, stated Dr.Bimolakumari while adding that ward nos.1,2,3,4,5,24,27 are inhabited by SC, ST, Migrant workers and other vulnerable groups of population.
In his speech, MLA Joykishan said the NUHM will provide benefits to the BPL families, and appealed to the people to avail the benefits from the Government's health programme.
