MUA urges for cancellation of programme

Imphal, August 03 2020: Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 positive cases in the State, the Maring Uparap Assembly (MUA) has expressed concern over the organising of a "One day awareness programme and plantation of bamboo, coconut and other trees" which is to be held on August 4 at Nongkam Satang Choktong and its surrounding villages.

The programme is jointly organised by the Central Agriculture University (CAU), Imphal and Apunba Imagi Machasing (AIMS), Manipur in collaboration with Nongkam Satang Village Authority.

In this regard, the Maring Uparap Assembly, apex body of the Maring tribe, has urged the concerned organisers to cancel the programme in view of the rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

MUA added that although it appreciates the programme, it will be inappropriate to organize such event during this critical situation.
