Saikul MLA, Yamthong Haokip (72) filed a fresh bail application for releasing him on health ground as he is presently in judicial custody in connection with the missing of arms case from 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote.
The fresh bail application was filed by Yamthong Haokip through his counsel against NIA, through the Chief Investigation Officer, NIA Guwahati Camp, before the Court of Special Judge, NIA Manipur, on May 30 .
The Court registered a cril misc bail case and the copy of the bail application was furnished to Special PP of NIA.
On that day, Yamthong Haokip's counsel submitted that the MLA's health condition is deteriorating and as such, prayed for calling the health status report of the petitioner from the Superintendent of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
The Court called for the health status report from the SP and fixed June 6 for health status report and instructed the NIA to file a written objection report, if any.
It may be mentioned that on November 6 last year, Special NIA Court Manipur had rejected the bail application filed by Yamthong Haokip on health ground but still permitted him to get treated at the Cardio-Thoracic Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi.
Yamthong Haokip was taken to New Delhi for his treatment in February this year.
It may also be mentioned that Yamthong Haokip was formally arrested on August 24 last year by NIA in connection with the arms missing case from 2nd Manipur Rifle arms kote following a raid by NIA at his residence at Mantripukhri on July 30 and 31 July last year.
The Court recently released his driver Thokchom Diamond, KRA Chief David Hangsing and H Talung Pungphinami due to lack of sufficient evidence.
