Inadequate food supply under ICDS irked Ukhrul bodies

Imphal, April 03 2013: Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long; Western Tangkhul Students Organisation; Raphei Katamnao Long; Raphei (Northern) Students Organisation; Zingsho Katamnao Long Eastern Students Organisation and Ukhrul District Alliance for Child Rights have expressed resentment over inadequate supply of supplementary nutrition to Anganwadi centres under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme.

In a joint statement, the six bodies pointed out that despite of the Supreme Court order for providing the required grams of protein, rice and other provisions under ICDS, Anganwadi centers in Phungyar; Kasom Kullen and Kamjong Projects have not received rice since November 2012 while Ukhrul and Chingai have started receiving insufficient share of rice.

However, they have not received other food items to serve as supplementary nutrition.

Informing that the honorarium for AWWs and AWHs has not paid since May 2012, they also demanded the concerned authority for releasing he pending honorarium immediately.
