Kangpokpi civil bodies hand over two alleged robbers to district police

Kangpokpi, January 03 2018:
In a first of its kind daylight robbery incident, local bodies of Kangpokpi district caught two woman robbers at around 11 am at Downtown IT Road today and handed them over to Kangpokpi Police.
As per their confession, the women have been identified as Ibemcha Haobam (50) and Romita Nunggol (49).They claimed that they are from Sangbram Sabal Leikai, Thoubal district.
The duo entered a hardware store below LNC Hotel at Downtown IT Road, Kangpokpi.
While one of them was talking with the hardware owner, the other snatched a water pump.
The owner of the hardware, who claimed to have witnessed the woman taking away the water pump reported the matter to Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization.
The organisation immediately caught them at Downtown IT Road junction and took them to the office of KYU for inquiry and later handed them over to Kangpokpi police, after proper counselling and warning them not to repeat such actions again.
The owner of the hardware who was also present at the police station refused to lodge any complain against them as the stolen item has been recovered and rather forgave the women so as to give the duo a chance to rectify their mistake.
According to the police, the family members of the duo were summoned and they will be released after receiving PR bond, since the complainant is not willing to file a case against them.
Meanwhile, local bodies of Kangpokpi have appealed civil bodies of Thoubal district and the family members of the duo not to mistake their decision and rather cooperate to eliminate such unwanted activities from the society.
They further conveyed desire for the duo to be given proper counseling by their respective families, apart from the local civil bodies.
The Kpi local bodies also warned that those found involving in such robbery, either local or non local, will be strictly dealt with and would be handed over to the law enforcement agency in future too.
