Bandh supporters jawans clash

Volunteers of SHDDC nabbed two officers of Assam Rifles at Gampiphai area on NH-39 today after a clash occurred between the forces and SHDDC supporters.
The SHDDC charged the Assam Rifles of molestation today during the melee.
Seven volunteers were injured in the incident.
Reports said two personnel from 43 AR came in civvies by a bike around 9.30 am and attempted to pass through the barrier put up by the bandh supporters.
The two jawans told the bandh supporters that they were AR men and did not need permission from the SHDDC for their movement.
The jawans allegedly used harsh words on the bandh supporters and returned to their camp.
Minutes later, the two jawans along with their colleagues in uniform came back at Gampiphai area from the 24 Assam Rifles stationed at Motbung.
As they reached the barrier, a clash occurred between the bandh supporters and the jawans who came in a Maruti Gypsy.
The furious bandh supporters later over-powered the jawans and captured two Assam Rifles officers, both of whom were Majors.
One of the officers is reportedly from the Kangpokpi post of Assam Rifles.
Both the officers are still in the custody of the bandh supporters till the filing of this report.
