Awareness programme on drug abuse held

Imphal, July 31 2018: Smart Society has organised a one day drug awareness and prevention programme under the theme - "Life Doesn't Rewind, Say No To Drugs" at Smart Universal Academy, Sekmaijin Khunou, yesterday.

Bachaspatimayum Bedakumar Sharma and Wangkheirakpam Naobi spoke at the event as resource persons and addressed key issues in combating drug menace and drug abuse in the State.

Factors such as geographical location, ritualistic necessity and proximity to Golden Triangle have made the State vulnerable to problems of drug abuse, identified the resource persons.

Students and teachers signed pledge cards to spread awareness to family, friends about the importance of being healthy and drug free.

They also pledged to set good examples for others by not using illegal drug, alcohol or medicines without proper prescriptions.

Secretary Smart Society N Dhanabati Devi, Principal Smart Universal Academy (High School section) L Hemchandra and Principal Smart Universal Academy (Higher Secondary section) Sagolsem Kiran Singh attended the event as presidium members.
