Govt mobilises forces; issues helplines

Imphal, June 30 2022:
In response to the massive landslide that occurred near Makhuam village in Noney district on Thursday, the state government has immediately mobilised the personnel of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in close coordination with Army and Railway authorities.
In a release issued Thursday, additional secretary to chief minister Neilenthang Telien stated that government staffers, including medical teams are rendering all possible assistance.
Additional medical teams and ambulances have also already left Imphal for the area.
An emergency meeting was convened under the chairmanship of chief minister N Biren immediately upon receipt of the news of the incident.
The situation is being monitored closely and all necessary assistance will be provided, it informed.
The release mentioned that MCS officers namely Dr A Chinglenkhomba Meetei, Ngangom Uttam Singh, Bantee Singh Konthoujam, L Geetchandra Singh and Suleiman Daulat Khan have been attached to the deputy commissioner, Noney office to assist and coordinate in the relief and rescue operation.
The government is also grateful to the cooperation extended by local villages in such challenging circumstances, it added.
Meanwhile, in an advisory to public, DC Noney Haulianlal Guite advised the public to stay alert and be prepared for any assistance in case the rain condition deteriorates further.
Travellers are also advised to avoid travelling along the NH-37 road due to multiple road blockages, it cautioned.
The DC further mentioned that district administration in coordination with various national and state teams are undertaking search & rescue, relief operations work.
The notice also provided district-level helpline numbers for public in need - Search & Rescue: SP Noney - 08308486828 and SDO Haochong - 08414876531; Relief Materials: EE RDA - 7005000344; Health Related: CMO Noney - 08730935885; Control Room: SDO Haochong - 08414876531 which will also function as control room number for all information inflow and outflow.
