Preparation for mass testing in IW completed

Preparation being made by Imphal West district administration for aggressive mass testing for Covid-19 in Imphal West district has been completed and CM N Biren will flag off the programme from Medical Directorate on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media in this regard, chief medical officer (CMO) Imphal West Dr Salam Priyokumar informed that the district administration is targeting to conduct 1620 tests on the first day covering eight assembly segments.
He stated that the aggressive testing of samples with more manpower has been initiated by the government to detect cases before the condition of patients become serious and proper treatment could be given along with curtailing any possibility of mass spreading of the infectious virus.
Dr S Priyokumar appealed to the public to support the government's move as spread of Covid-19 could not be contained without the public support.
People must adhere to SOPs, follow curfew and only go out from home for emergency work, he said.
Meanwhile, deputy commissioner of Imphal West Th Kirankumar, in a release, stated that all preparations have been made for mass Covid-19 testing to be conducted till June 15 in the district.
The release mentioned that on first day, tests will be conducted for 100 people at Kumari High School, Hiyangthang; 60 at Mutum Phibou UPS; 60 at Manipur University; 60 at Langthabal Khoupum community hall; 200 at Ibudhou Pakhangba community hall, Konthoujam Makha Leikai; 150 at Thangtek Yangoi Ningthou community hall; 250 at Moidangpok Awang community hall; 120 at Awang Leikai community hall, Patsoi Part II; 100 at Patsoi Part III community hall; 250 at Hindi Secondary School, Kanglatongbi; 120 at Heirangoithong community hall; and for 150 people at Khomdram Selungba community hall, Thangmeiband.
In all, 1620 people will be tested on the first day, while normal testing at TG Higher Secondary School and Airport will also continue, it added.
DC Imphal West also mentioned that testing sites will be decided after consultation with Imphal West CMO, while plans are also afoot for mobile testing of curfew violators in consultation with Imphal West SP .
